An ISBN is an International Standard Book Number. ISBNs were 10 digits in length up to the end of December 2006. Since January 1, 2007 they now consist of 13 digits. ISBNs are calculated using a specific mathematical formula and include a check digit to validate the number.

PSIM stands for Published NFT Standard Identification Metadata.

It’s a unique NFT identifier of a Smart Contract/CID/Token ID that’s assigned by Publishednft.io It’s primarily used for NFT-identification within their product database of items.

For books, the PSIM is the same as the ISBN or ASIN number. For all other products, a new PSIM is created when an item is uploaded to Published NFT’s database.

Each ISBN consists of 5 elements with each section separated by spaces or hyphens. Three of the five elements may be of varying length:

  • Prefix element — currently this can only be either 978 or 979. It is always 3 digits in length
  • Registration group element — this identifies the particular country, geographical region, or language area participating in the ISBN system. This element may be between 1 and 5 digits in length
  • Registrant element — this identifies the particular publisher or imprint. This may be up to 7 digits in length
  • Publication element — this identifies the particular edition and format of a specific title. This may be up to 6 digits in length
  • Check digit — this is always the final single digit that mathematically validates the rest of the number. It is calculated using a Modulus 10 system with alternate weights of 1 and 3.
  • This data will be remapped & recreated with smart contracts and IPFS CID for ASIM creation.

Note: PSIMs are only guaranteed to be unique on Flow scan or and IPFS. This means different national Blockchains may use different PSIMs for the same product.

Why Published NFT PSIMs are Important to Published NFT and its Sellers & Collectors

Why are PSIMs so important? Because its used to reference blockchain & ipfs data, track inventory for products, and index databases for search and browsing on Publishednft.io

The PSIM number is the foundation of Published NFT’s product database structure, which allows for:

  • Shoppers to search by drilling down through multiple categories.
  • Shoppers can search for a specific product by its PSIM
  • Published NFT to deliver accurate and relevant product searches every time.

It’s vital that sellers identify and use the correct PSIM for their products. Otherwise, Published NFT won’t be able to organize and search your products for an optimized shopping experience.

If you want to list any product on Published NFT, you must mint your NFTs to an existing PSIM metadata or create a new one.

The ISBN is part of the International Standard Bibliographic Description (ISBD), which was prescribed by the International Organization for Standardization; delegates adopted the numbering system in 1969. The ISBN provides a standard for the arrangement of bibliographic information in single- and multivolume publications. Its numbers are assigned by publishers and administered by designated national standard book numbering agencies — e.g., the R.R. Bowker company in the United States, Nielsen Book in the United Kingdom, the National Library in Brazil, the Agentur für die Bundesrepublik in Germany, and the Library Authority in Ghana. Each ISBN is identical with the Standard Book Number, originally devised in the United Kingdom, with the addition of a preceding national group identifier. In 2007 the ISBN format changed from 10 digits to 13 digits.
